The benefits gained by mind and body in cycling coast to coast are one reason that Gene and David decided to do this bike trip. Another reason is the opportunity to raise some money in order to help individuals who are in need of assistance. We therefore have selected the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission charity because of the enormous impact of their ministry to the homeless and needy in Northern Nevada.

Started in 1963, the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission has served nearly 5 million hot- nutritious meals, given away more than 1.2 million pieces of clothing, and provided over 1.2 million nights of warm beds for those men, women and children seeking shelter from the often harsh environment of the high desert. Perhaps just as important, the Mission provides an intensive recovery program that focuses on the overall well- being of the individual by addressing their spiritual, physical and emotional needs along with providing vocational and educational opportunities.
