Tuesday June 6, 2006 29 miles - Total so far: 147 miles "Downhill a little, uphill alot"

This morning we explored old downtown Folsom, a historic district with buildings preserved from the 1800s. Then we cycled by Folsom prison, made famous by Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues. We entered the Sierra foothills...where every downhill was followed by an even longer and steeper uphill. This day required a detour from our Adventure Cycling route due the snow closure of the road through the El Dorado National Forest. Therefore, tomorrow we will be starting our journey from Jackson and cycling highway 88 to the Kirkwood Ski Resort.
