What a sendoff...wow!!!! Thank you Sue, Shari, Jeff, Tracy, Jeff, Irene, Paul, Diane, Keith, Nancy, Don, Gretchen, and Warren. A special thanks to Murray for making available the use ot the downtown University Club. We all took a cable car up to Nob Hill where we met at the University Club for drinks, followed by a wonderful dinner at the Washington Square Bar and Grill.

On Saturday we rode to the Golden Gate Bridge (the official starting point of our trip) and extracted a vial of Pacific Ocean water to annoint our bikes for good luck This vial will be carried with us across the country and will be poured into the Atlantic. While riding to the bridge we passed an area where people were preparing for the San Francisco Triathalon and both agreed we'd rather be embarking on a 70-day bike journey than swimming the frigid waters San Francisco Bay.

Saturday evening was highlighted by a Fisherman's Wharf seafood dinner and a trip to Ghiradelli Square for ice cream. After that we retired early in preparation for their our day on the road. To all our friends, we thank you for the awesome sendoff!
